Reflections: internship experience of working in the CCGs
Valeeya Khizar, youth participation project lead, NHS Bradford district and Craven CCGs talks about her experience of taking on an internship with our CCGs.
“It was a positive and an interesting experience to be a part of the CCGs. The positive part of my journey was to be a part of the engagement and experience team. They supported me and encouraged me in building my confidence and guiding me along the way with the youth participation project.
“This internship has given me the tools to manage and be tolerant and professional with different types of people and understand that every organisation has a different culture. It has instilled confidence in me in communicating with a range of people in the CCGs and how confidence is something that you have to put in yourself which no other person can.
"It was interesting to see how people can be different at work to how they might be at home. I felt sometimes there’s a façade that people put up and it’s unavoidable, you have to learn to co-exist with each other and be tolerant and respectful.
“I am grateful that I was able to recognise this and keep in mind in the future to remain true and authentic, even if the people around me are not. This was a valuable observation and I will keep this in mind where ever life takes me.”
